RESEARCH SCIENTIST - MEDICINAL CHEMISTRY

Job Description
Participates in the planning, organizing, and conducting of research in multi-disciplinary drug discovery projects using modern medicinal chemistry and organic synthetic chemistry approaches. Position is responsible for the design, synthesis, purification, and characterization of targeted small molecules and/or focused libraries through the use of state-of-art technologies or techniques. This position interacts regularly with other medicinal chemists, computational chemists and biologists assigned to various project teams to interpret structure-activity relationships and to identify drug candidates. It also collaborates with biologists to develop and write research proposals.

Qualifications
Position requires a doctoral degree (Ph.D.) or equivalent in synthetic organic chemistry and up to 3 years postdoctoral and/or industrial experience. Experience in small molecule drug discovery in a pharmaceutical and/or biotechnology environment is highly advantageous along with knowledge of databases such as Crossfire, DiscoveryGate, and/or Scifinder. Preferred candidate will have a proven record of high productivity, strong organic and medicinal chemistry bench skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
